Cake Poker :: Site Review
Cake Poker is the flagship site of the Cake Network. The network is challenging the Big 3 (PokerStars, Full Tilt, and CEREUS) in the US market. Facing this huge uphill challenge, Cake has built its software with a heavily animated, three dimensional graphics based platform. The rooms feature full bodied avatars which give a very crowded feel if sitting a nine-handed table, but tables can be viewed with no avatars.
Cake Poker has features that are easily accessable from the table. From the chat box players can watch their stats, see new promos, and select from their table options. Table views can be switched to a more conventional “eye in the sky” view which gives the table a generic feel but free of cluttered avatars. When multi tabling, players can either cascade tables or use a tiled view.
The majority of full tables will be found at the lower limits, plenty of micro stakes and topping off around the $2/4 level for NLHE and PLO. 7 Stud and 7 Stud HiLo are offered in tabs from the main lobby, but these tables don’t have much traffic. Gold Card and Gold Chip promotions are based on FPP (Frequent Player Points) and once they are achieved the next level is easier for players to earn.
