PokerStars Full Review Launched in 2001, PokerStars is the largest online poker site in the world, overtaking the competition during the passing of the UIGEA. The site is most well known for hosting the largest tournaments in the world on a weekly basis, culminating every Sunday with the Sunday Million, which as of this writing, has a guaranteed prizepool of $1.5 million.

The site is home to WSOP ME champions Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, and most recently, Peter Eastgate. These names only compliment their other top level pros such as Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, Isabelle Mercier, Vessa Rousso, Humberto Brenes and Chad Brown.

One of the first things you’ll notice at the PokerStars dashboard is how well laid-out it is. All games are tabbed and sub-tabbed for easy navigation. You can customize the game filter on every tab to make it easy to find your favorite game or table.

Tournaments can be viewed all together or by designation (regular, satellite, freeroll, etc.). Tournaments are also color-coordinated to signify the type of event. Whatever your game, you’ll find it at PokerStars.

Cash game limits range from $.02/.04 up to $1,000/2000, while tournaments can be played with buy-ins of as low as $.10 all the way up to $10,000 during the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).

The software has lots of customizable options that allow you change your personal avatar, table and background designs. PokerStars has done an excellent job of constantly adding upgrades to the software while maintaining quick table play and system reliability. The software is also available for MAC.

PokerStars offers all the games (Hold’em, Omaha, Stud) that you’ll find on the other sites, but also has other variations that you’ll be hard pressed to find at other major sites. These games include 2-7 Single and Triple Draw, Omaha H/L Mixed, HORSE and 8-Game.

The player traffic at PokerStars is tops in the industry, with over 150,000 players during peak hours.
