Borgata Poker Open Wraps Up

Just before Vivek Rajkumar took down the $10,000 buy-in WPT Borgata Poker Open the final three preliminary events wrapped up.

In Event #12 ($5000 No Limit Hold’em) Jack Schanbacher came out on top of a 228-player field to earn $342,000. John Phan finished seventh in this event to add to his BLUFF Magazine Player-of-the-Year award lead. The next event, Event #13 ($300 No Limit Hold’em), went to Ofir Yaloz, who out lastest 630 other players for the win and $52,512 payday. The event featured a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Despite being in Atlantic City, Event #14 ($1000 No Limit Hold'Em) went to Texas’ own Jae-Chul Chang. He heads back to Austin, TX with $60,300 in his wallet. And the last preliminary event, Event #15 ($500 No Limit Hold'Em), was won by Patricia Barsanti-Chou.

Hard Rock Poker Lounge Now Offering No River Hold’em and Royal Hold’em

The Hard Rock Poker Lounge continues to make waves in Las Vegas. Only weeks after opening the room now offers No River Hold’em and Royal Hold’em, two variations on Texas Hold’em that are proving popular with players.

“We could not be happier than to have both games in the Hard Rock’s new Poker Lounge,” said Vincent Zaldivar, president of NewPoker, the company which developed both variations. “The Hard Rock helped develop the games by allowing us to test them in their pit earlier this year.  We have re-tooled them to meet players’ needs and have been waiting for the Hard Rock’s new Poker Lounge to open. Ultimately, No River Hold’em will be our entrée onto casino floors and into poker rooms.  It will pave the way for our other revolutionary poker and table games.”

Royal Hold’em uses same the basic rules as Texas Hold’em, but only uses the four 10s through aces. The same rules and betting rounds as Texas Hold’em apply. No River Hold’em is played under the basic rules of Texas Hold’em,  but each player is dealt three hole cards and there is no river card; there is a flop and a turn only. With the addition of the third card dealt to players, the potential starting hands rises from 1,326 to 22,100.
