With Full Tilt Online Poker Series VII in full swing the usual $216 buy-in $750,000 Guaranteed that usually anchors the Sunday schedule at Full Tilt Poker was replaced by Event #9, a $322 buy-in tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $1,500,000.
With a field of 5,090 the prize pool of $1,527,000, as has been the case in every FTOPS VII event so far, surpassed the guaranteed amount. Rising to the occasion was “_FlaXmarZ_” who held the chip lead from wire-to-wire as the final table played out. Here’s how the last eight eliminations happened:
Eliminated in 9th: highbury90
Blinds: 30,000/60,000 (7,500 antes)
Action folded to “nfa1080” on the button who raised to 155,000. From the small blind highbury90 moved all-in for his last 413,753; nfa1080 called. highbury90 showed Ah Td and nfa1080 had him dominated with Ac Qd. The board came Ks 6c 5s Ad Kh and the queen kicker for nfa1080 was good enough to take the pot and eliminate the first player.
Eliminated in 8th: papychulo777
Blinds: 30,000/60,000 (7,500 antes)
With the first final table elimination already under his belt nfa1080 went back to work. Raising again to 155,000, this time from UTG, action folded around to papychulo777 who raised all-in to 452,056. nfa1080 called and showed Ks Ah and again found himself dominating his opponent’s hand as papychulo777 tabled Qc Ad. The board came 9d 4h Jc 6h 5s and again nfa1080 found his kicker was good enough to send another opponent to the rail.
Eliminated in 7th: POCKET FIVE
Blinds: 50,000/100,000 (10,000 antes)
Pre-flop "xqsays" raised to 220,011 from middle position and POCKET FIVE called from the big blind. After a flop of Qs 9h 5d POCKET FIVE moved all-in for 237,696 and xqsays called. POCKET FIVE showed Jd Kc and xqsays showed Ah Kd and when the 6h hit the turn and the 6c came on the river the ace-high of xqsays was good enough to eliminate POCKET FIVE as the third player from the final table.
Eliminated in 6th: lonolin
Blinds: 50,000/100,000 (10,000 antes)
Not long after that nfa1080 went back to work eliminating players. From the cut-off he raised to 250,000 and lonolin re-raised all-in to 454,776; nfa1080 called. With pocket queens nfa1080 was in good shape against the Kh Tc of lonolin. The board came 3d 8h 6d 4h 5s and nfa1080 was now responsible for eliminating three of the four players who had been eliminated from the final table.
Eliminated in 5th: jbs07
Blinds: 60,000/120,000 (15,000 antes)
From UTG "MK376" raised to 360,000 and jbs07 re-raised all-in to 1,415,619 from the small blind and MK376 called and showed Js Jd while jbs07 held 7s 7h. Helplessly jbs07 watched the board come 6c 9d Qh Kh 8d and was unable to produce a bad beat and was out of FTOPS VII Event #9.
Eliminated in 4th: nfa1080
Blinds: 60,000/120,000 (15,000 antes)
After watching other players do all the leg work _FlaXmarZ_ finally got in on the elimination game. From UTG he raised to 320,000 only to have the busiest player at the final table, nfa1080, move all-in for 1,327,303. _FlaXmarZ_ called and turned over 5h Ac against the pocket fours of nfa108. The 5c on the flop put _FlaXmarZ_ ahead and with no help to come nfa1080 had been dealt a taste of his own medicine and he was eliminated from play.
Eliminated in 3rd: xqsays
Blinds: 60,000/120,000 (15,000 antes)
Continuing the all-in pre-flop strategy, xqsays moved all-in over the top of the button raise of MK376 for 1,876,960 and found MK376 calling. Neither player had a pair as xqsays tabled Kc Qs and MK376 showed Ac 6s. The board brought no help for either player and ace-high was good enough for MK376 to move into heads-up play with _FlaXmarZ_ and eliminate xqsays from play.
FTOPS Event #9 Winner: _FlaXmarZ_
Blinds: 80,000/160,000 (20,000 antes)
It took only eight minutes of play for _FlaXmarZ_ to take home the six-figure payday and FTOPS golden avatar. _FlaXmarZ_ raised to 400,000 from the button and MK376 re-raised to 1,120,000. _FlaXmarZ_ moved all-in and MK376 called all-in. _FlaXmarZ_ showed 9c Ac and MK376 turned over Ks 9s. The five community cards failed to produce a king or a spade-flush for MK376 and he was eliminated from FTOPS VII Event #9 and _FlaXmarZ_ was victorious.
