Despite having a bigger guaranteed prize pool available “across the street” the PokerStars.com Sunday Million showed no ill effects and the field of 6,856 meant a prize pool of $1,371,200. First place was worth $193,339.20 and "PKerBL" ran well enough at the final table to eliminate five of his eight competitors on his way to the win. Here’s how the final table played out.
Eliminated in 9th Place: HelmetSky Blinds: 125,000/250,000 (25,000 antes)
HelmetSky moved all-in from the hijack for 2,876,274 and Talgamer13 called from big blind. HelmetSky showed 7s 7c and Talgamer13 tabled Ad Jd. The flop came Ac Ah 2h and Talgamer13 was in front with trip aces. Neither the turn nor the river brought one of the two remaining sevens and the final table had its first casualty.
Eliminated in 8th Place: Talgamer13 Blinds: 150,000/300,000 (30,000 antes)
Not long after eliminating HelmetSky in ninth, Talgamer13 found himself short-stacked and in need of a double up. Moving all-in for 668,658 from UTG+1 Talgamer13 was called by "Snitch24" in the big blind. When the cards were flipped over Talgamer13 was in the lead with pocket fours versus the Jh 9s of Snitch24. But the flop of Td 9d 6c put Snitch24 in control of the race and with no help on the final two community cards Talgamer13 was out of the Sunday Million.
Eliminated in 7th Place: roniirani Blinds: 150,000/300,000 (30,000 antes)
From UTG "AQUA RAIDER" raised to 90,000 and PKerBL called from the button. In the small blind however, roniirani moved all-in for 3,722,600; AQUA RAIDER folded and PKerBL called. In a classic coin-flip situation roniirani turned over Ac Ks while PKerBL held pocket queens. The flop came 4d 3c Js. The turn of Kh put roniirani in front but the river delivered a queen and PKerBL made a set to knock-out roniirani.
Eliminated in 6th Place: jp4est Blinds: 200,000/400,000 (40,000 antes)
Pre-flop was where all the action was on this hand. jp4est raised to 1,100,000 from UTG+1 and PKerBL followed that up by re-raising to 2,700,000. jp4est then moved all-in for 12,845,280 and PKerBL called. jp4est showed pocket queens and PKerBL showed pocket kings. All the suspense was ended on the flop when a third king gave PKerBL a set sending jp4est packing.
Eliminated in 5th Place: OllowainTim Blinds: 250,000/500,000 (50,000 antes)
With a little more than one big blind remaining OllowainTim moved all-in from UTG and was called by "FeFranco" and Snitch24 in the blinds. FeFranco and Snitch24 checked down a board of 7h 6c Tc 3c 3h. FeFranco, the small blind, showed Ah 7s to take the pot and eliminate OllowainTim.
Eliminated in 4th Place: FeFranco Blinds: 300,000/600,000 (60,000 antes)
After PKerBL raised to 1,200,000 from the button, FeFranco moved all-in for 7,619,900 and PKerBL called. FeFranco turned over pocket fives only to find out he was way behind the pocket aces of PKerBL. The ace on the turn gave PKerBL a full house and brought an end to the night for FeFranco.
Eliminated in 3rd Place: Snitch24 Blinds: 400,000/800,000 (80,000 antes)
After briefly discussing a three-way chop based on chip count and deciding to play it out the three players resumed play. AQUA RAIDER folded on the button and Snitch24 moved all-in for 5,330,700 from the small blind; PKerBL called and showed Qd Jc to the 7c 8c of Snitch24. The flop came 4c 3s Jh and PKerBL’s pair of jacks held up to eliminate Snitch24 and turn the Sunday Million into a heads-up battle.
Sunday Million Winner: PKerBL Blinds: 500,000/1,000,000 (100,000 antes)
When heads-up play began PKerBL had over 61 million in chips to AQUA RAIDER’s 7.5 million. It took 53 hands of heads-up action before PKerBL could eliminate AQUA RAIDER and claim victory. After both players limped to see a flop of 2s 6s Ks AQUA RAIDER checked and PKerBL bets 2,000,000. AQUA RAIDER raised to 4,000,000 only to have PKerBL raise enough to put AQUA RAIDER all-in. After calling the final bet AQUA RAIDER turned over 4s 7s for a flush only to have PKerBL turn over Ts 5s for a better flush.
