Chris Moneymaker. Greg Raymer. Joe Hachem. Jerry Yang. These four men have lived out every poker player’s dream by winning the World Series of Poker Main Event. And in a matter of weeks poker players from around the globe will make their way to the Rio Hotel for the 2008 WSOP Main Event in hopes of adding their name to that list.
If they want to increase their chances of becoming World Champion, they should stop in at the WSOP Academy’s Main Event Primer which runs June 29 – July 1 at Caesar’s Palace. The camp will include instructions from past Main Event champions Phil Hellmuth and Raymer, WSOP bracelet winners Annie Duke and Mark Seif, World Poker Tour title winner Phil Gordon, poker tells expert Joe Navarro and noted poker pro and instructor Alex Outhred.
"Our Main Event Primer is the jewel of the WSOP Academy season, and we're elevating the level of instruction this year by offering our most advanced curriculum ever, all taught by an unprecedented roster of champion poker players," said Brandon Rosen of Post Oak Productions, the company that produces the WSOP Academy. "With our team of world-class instructors, our Main Event Primer-Advanced Academy will give players all the confidence and skills they need to take on the massive field at the Main Event."
With a focus on No Limit Hold’em tournament strategies and theories the camp should leave attendees feeling more prepared for the marathon of poker that is the Main Event. Covering everything from mathematics to pre-flop and post-flop strategy to a session lead by Navarro, a former FBI agent, on tells the Main Event Primer is designed to give players a better shot at taking home the bracelet.
The three day event will include two freeroll tournaments that will award a $10,000 seat to the Main Event. The tournament will run on the second and third days of camp.
"If you don't already have a seat to the Main Event, our two tournaments will allow you to put into action what you've learned and perhaps extend your stay in Vegas a little longer as you compete in the most prestigious poker tournament in the world,"" said Rosen.
