Lee Jones, the former poker room manager for PokerStars.com, is leaving his current position as Executive Host with the European Poker Tour to join CardRunners.com as their Chief Operating Officer effective immediately.
“Lee will be intimately involved every single day with ensuring that CardRunners videos remain innovative and creative as well as continuing to meet the rising standards of quality seen industry-wide,” said Ezra Galston, Director of Marketing. “Lee is bringing 5 years of experience in the poker industry as well as 25 years of experience in the computer business world to our management team. This isn''t a cushy consultant gig -- Lee will be intimately involved with overseeing the member experience every single day.”
Jones worked with PokerStars from October 2003 until April 2007 and is credited with being an integral part of their growth during that time and since. With the EPT Jones hosted an organized each event and was the lead broadcaster for the television and online productions.
“One of the realities of life is that you can''t do everything. My wife and I were already planning to move back to the States, so continuing to work for the EPT really wasn''t an option,” said Jones. “I will miss John Duthie and the EPT family a great deal, but I''m delighted to say that I go with their good wishes. I also intend to return there next season, but as a player this time.”
CardRunners is considered to be a pioneer among instructional poker video websites. Current members of Team CardRunners include Taylor Caby, Andrew Wiggins, Brian Townsend, Brian Hastings, Mike Schneider, Cole South and Eric Liu. Subscribers to the CardRunners service have access to video tutorials from the entire team.
"When I talked to the guys at Cardrunners - Taylor, Andrew, Brian, and Ezra - it was a no-brainer. They''re all incredibly sharp young men who are using poker as a springboard to professional and personal success. They''ve already built a good business, and want to build a great business; it sounded like too much fun to pass up,” said Jones.
Despite Jones’ experience as a poker educator, his role at CardRunners will be more operational.
“At least initially, I won''t be making videos - I''ll have plenty to do running the company. My first job will be a complete and thorough review of the entire video experience that our members have,” said Jones.
Jones’ first day on the job is today, having wrapped his responsibilities with the EPT at last week’s Grand Final.
