Big Brown wasn’t the only big winner during Kentucky Derby weekend. Thirty players ponied up to play in the $2,500 buy-in Kentucky Derby Poker Championship, a charity event hosted by poker pros Phil Hellmuth and Robert Williamson III.

Layne Flack won the tournament securing himself $13,000 in cash and a seat in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. Jan Karl was second earning and $8,500 prize package from UltimateBet, including entry into the 2008 Aruba Poker Classic tournament in September.

But the big winners were the charities the tournament was designed to benefit. A total of $60,000 was raised and will be split among three different beneficiaries; the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, the Health and Climate Foundation and the Robby Albarado Foundation.
