World Series of Poker 2008: Battle for the Bracelets

The popular World Series of Poker video game gets bigger this year with the addition of Battle for the Bracelets, which looks like the most feature-filled game of the franchise to date.

Following the wildly popular 2007 edition, Tournament of Champions, the game makers at Activision spent all year comming up with more features to make this year's addition a completely new experience.

This year the game will take you back to poker’s biggest stage, the World Series of Poker  summer events, where you can follow your dream of capturing bracelets and ultimately competing for the World Championship! Customize your own character and guide him or her through the ups and down of a professional poker career. You can build your bankroll playing cash games in a variety of casinos, including Caesar’s Palace, The Flamingo, Harrah’s, Bally’s, and Paris! Once you have enough money to travel the tournament circuit, you will find yourself playing biggest poker tournaments in the most famed casinos all over the country, from Caesar’s Palace, to Paris, to Bally’s, to the Flamingo, to the RIO.
What is it that intrigues us so much about poker? The players! This year, WSOP 2008 has added a slew of who’s who of new famous faces, including that of the Poker Brat himself, Phil Hellmuth. Take a crash course in poker from Phil, and once you build up the necessary tools, take him on in the brand new “Beat the Brat” heads-up challenge.  In addition to Hellmuth, look for the familiar faces of Mike “The Mouth” Matasow, Annie Duke, Jennifer Harmon, Chris Ferguson, Scotty Nguyen, Johnny Chan, Greg Raymer, and many, many more!

With successful wins, you will unlock all kinds of neat poker tools to add to your arsenal at the table. With such features as being able to check the odds of your hand to checking the stats of your opponents to gain an edge on them, WSOP 2008 is packed full of features you can use to help test and improve your game. But the unlockables don’t stop there! With successive wins, you’ll be upgraded through a series of better and more impressive hotel suites. Phil Hellmuth will be your “Robin Leach” in this Vegas version of MTV’s Cribs. You’ll check out the best digs in some of the most posh hotels and get an insider’s look at what it’s like to roll as a true poker superstar. It culminates with The Palazzo Suite at the RIO after you win the $10,000 Main Event, just as what’s given to the Champion of the real tournament!

With intense heads-up tournament action, more poker tutorials, more locations, and the most stacked list of A-list pros ever in a video game, this year’s game is upping the high-stakes poker action like never before!  It’s defi nitely worth checking out.
