The Entities that comprise Wicked Chops Poker have experienced a lot of things in between globetrotting, yachting, funding guerrilla regimes in oppressive third world nations, and chicken dancing naked for Japanese businessmen (don’t ask).
Yet the excitement we experience in doing all of these does not even remotely rival the excitement we experience while in Las Vegas.
One Wicked Chops Poker Entity, Chops, recently moved to Las Vegas to launch RawVegas.tv. And two other Wicked Chops Poker Entities, Snake and Addict, frequent the city… frequently.
Add up the regular trips and time spent before Chops’ aforementioned move, and Snake and Addict’s aforementioned frequent visits, and you’ll find the boys know Vegas as well as [fill in your favorite analogy for knowing something really well here].
With that in mind, here’s a list of some things that get us excited about Las Vegas.
Five Favorite Card Rooms
We’re poker players at heart, so any list has to start with the places we play.
• Caesars — It’s big. It’s got a room dedicated to tournament play. And on busy weekends, it’s like an online poker room in that there’s practically no waiting for a table. Lacks some personality but is always in the rotation.
• Venetian — Great vibe at this place. So great, we used the word “vibe,” a word we swore off years ago.
• Orleans — You may have just said out loud, “The Orleans?” But this place is old school poker. They had a big room before it was cool to have a big room. Good structured tournaments, too.
• Bellagio — Sure it’s uncomfortable and a little stodgy, but you’re not playing serious poker in Las Vegas if you’re not playing at the Bellagio.
• Red Rock Casino — The only poker room in Las Vegas we know of that has a restroom inside the poker room. Brilliant!
Five Favorite Vegas Attractions
When we’re not playing poker, you can usually find us at or near the following spots:
• The Coffee Shop, Treasure Island – Sure, some people are all about the trendy Social House or Tangerine, but after a long night, give us a good cup of coffee and the best breakfast in the city.
• Standing in front of an immigrant flier boy who hands out escort numbers – typically why it’s a long night. You’ll only catch us in this locale for a few seconds. But we’re there a lot.
• PURE, Jet, Light, Studio 54, blah blah blah – We could write an entire college thesis on the Vegas nightlife and scene, so let’s just lump them all together and urge … no … no … implore you to hit one of these clubs next time you’re in town.
• In-N-Out Burger on Dean Martin — Feels like we’re in college recovering from a massive hangover every time we go — as opposed to being thirty-something and doing so – but this favorite locale is a tried and true staple, and we don’t care how bad it is for you. No one says Quaaludes are good for you, but that doesn’t stop us from … just kidding.
• Japanese businessman’s hotel room — don’t ask.
Top Five Places Our Wives, Girlfriends, Escorts, and Casual Lovers Spend Time While We Are Playing Poker; Or Better Put, the Top Five Places We Take Our Wives so They Don’t Get Mad at Us for Writing Articles Like This
* Spa at Bellagio – At the end of the day, what good is it to have a wife if she doesn’t look good?
• Caesars Forum Shops – Perfectly situated near one of our favorite poker rooms, it’s the ideal place for them to spend the money we just won.
• The Gun Store – With its indoor shooting range, it’s a good way for them to blow off steam while we aren’t spending time with them.
• Ferrari dealership at the Wynn – They’ve test-driven like every car there. But we prefer Lamborghinis.
• The Thunder From Down Under – Famed male strip show, it reminds them of what we look like with our shirts off.
