Ron, how did you get involved in poker?
Well, my first love is blackjack. I got real friendly with the Godfather of Rock and Roll, a guy named Bill Gazzarri. He discovered the Doors, Poison, Guns and Roses – a whole bunch of bands – and he used to bring me to Las Vegas all the time. He used to get comped a big suite at Caesars Palace, and that’s where he taught me blackjack. He even knew Frank Sinatra in the old days. Bill used to get really upset when he was losing and he would throw his chips down the aisle – he was a really colorful guy.
The only experience I’d had with poker was with a video poker machine. It’s like poker, but it’s a whole different ball of wax. It helps you learn the hand values and what beats what – what you want to keep and what you want to throw away – but it’s so different from Texas Hold’em.
The hardest thing when you’re learning real poker is what strategy to listen to. Some people tell you to keep a low pair; some tell you to throw it away. When I was being taught poker by Naked Poker.com, they said that at a certain point in the tournament, I should go all in with pocket queens. But I don’t want to go all in with anything, because then I could be done!
How long did you play in the Main Event?
How long? 9 3/4 inches… No, no, no, that’s just a standard joke. I played for almost an entire day. I was there until just before the very last break. I’ll tell you the truth: Because I’m not a very good player, we developed a code – so if they gave me a nod, I would go all in. Because the fact is that I was playing like a pansy the whole time. A lot of the time I had really good hands, but the guy to my left was bluffing me so well that I wound up folding. I’d have a great hand and think I was going to do well, but he just bluffed me a lot. So my guy at Naked Poker said to me that when I hit a certain type of hand, then I should go all in.
So I did it, I had a pair of queens with a king kicker, and I did an all-in. Everyone on the entire table folded. Ron Jeremy going all in? Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye – so they all went out, except this one fucking guy, a really good-looking guy, who’s an actor in 24, and he made the funniest comment. He was going to fold and said, “What have you got, Jeremy? Have you got a pair of aces?” He’s saying, “I’m torn. If I lose, I lose my $10,000; and if I win, I get to go down in history as the guy that kicked Ron Jeremy out of the WSOP.” So he says, “I’m going to call you, Ron.” And he got me because he had a pair of aces and I had queens. And he goes, “Great, my dream is that my face is going to be on ESPN, saying I kicked Ron Jeremy at poker.”
Have you been bitten by the poker bug?
Yeah, I have. I’ve been trying to play poker as much as possible to get some practice in. Hopefully next year, when I go to the WSOP, I’ll do a better job. But that said, I lasted a whole day this year and it worked out pretty well. I’ll tell you another funny story: Before we did the big game, they invited me down to a celebrity game. So I was in a tournament with James Caan, Tobey McGuire, and I’m doing pretty well – really knocking them dead. I’m playing almost every hand, thinking I’m great. Then the guy who’s teaching me to play said, “Ron, don’t get cocky. Today you’re playing celebrities who aren’t playing with their own money – wait until tomorrow. It’s gonna be the real deal with guys who put their own $10,000 into it. And the funny thing is, they were totally right.
Tell us about Naked Poker. What’s naked about Naked Poker?
The naked part of it is encouraging people to play naked, so they don’t have anything up their sleeve. No, I’m kidding. You go onto the site and you can win a date with a Playmate, and they also have plenty of celebrities. Besides that, they’ll teach you poker, and if you play enough – who knows – you could win a date with a Playmate. Their tag line is: Giving meaning to the words “All In.”
Do girls that win get a date with you?
Maybe they should say that, if you win, you don’t have to go out with Ron Jeremy.

How much do porn stars make per movie?
A guy can make $500 to $600 per sex scene. A girl can make, non-contract, $800 for girl-on-girl, $900 for boy-on-girl, $1,000 for anal, and $1,200 for DP. On a contract, working for only one company, they make between $5,000 and $10,000 for the scene. Imagine that! A guy can be making a few hundred dollars and she’s making $10,000. But there are plenty of guys that are out there right now that think, “Hell, I’ll fuck Jenna Jameson for free.”

I do loads of mainstream stuff – I‘ve done 68 mainstream movies. And then there’s stuff like doing poker on ESPN and making shows for MTV. It’s really the mainstream stuff that makes you famous. Some people just want to be porn stars, like Rocco or Peter North. They’re really cult. But I’ve done stuff on Jay Leno and Letterman – that makes you mainstream, part of pop culture.
We heard you were in a Disney film?
I was in a Disney TV show for kids called Bone Chillers. The director is a good friend of mine, so they disguised my face with makeup and made me into a character called Blister Face. I had to go into makeup so no one knew it was me – it’s a good story, it’s all in my book.
How many pornos have you made?

I am. But my goal is to be a mainstream actor.

We did a total count and it works out at between 4,000 and 5,000 women. Me and Gene Simmons have about the same number. But the joke is that Gene Simmons gets girls that look like Playboy models and, off camera, I get girls that look like Gene Simmons.
So over a 20-year career… that works out to more than a girl every other day?
No, it can’t be that many… hmm, I guess it is… But on some days, I guess I did more than one a day.
What was your biggest bluff on a porn set?
When I told a girl that it hung two inches from the floor. She expected to see a monster – she thought I was John Holmes-sized – but I lied, he has me by two inches. And she looked at it and said, “It isn’t that big.” And man, that hurt.
