Dissecting The DB
The PokerDB on BluffMagazine.com is an amazingly useful resource for all online poker players, as you’ve no doubt discovered if you’ve checked it out. Since there are so many cool and practical features we want to make sure you know how to use everything to your utmost advantage. This month’s cool feature is your Personal Dashboard, a one-stop spot where you can keep an eye on yourself, your friends, and even your poker enemies.
First, click on over to BluffMagazine.com, and under the Online Poker tab, click on Personal Dashboard, then log in. If you haven’t created an account yet, be sure to do so!
Once logged in, you’ll notice one box with your buddies’ stats for the last thirty days, and below it a box showing which buddies are currently playing in tournaments. If the lists show no buddies or you want to add more, click Edit and you can add as many buddies as you’d like.
To further customize your Dashboard, click Preferences. This will not only let you customize the tournament directory to fi t your needs, but it will also allow you to set alerts for your buddies. You can choose to get emails or text messages whenever one of your friends or foes cashes in a tournament or makes a fi nal table, giving you the option to pop on in and either cheer on your bud or berate that silly donkey for calling off all his chips with A-9 off-suit.
By clicking Poker Accounts Management, you can make sure the DB is tracking all your wins (and losses) on all the sites you play on that are supported by the DB.
Once all your accounts are registered, your dashboard will always have your Stat Summary posted, giving you info like your total winnings, total estimated buy-ins, number of wins, fi nal tables, cashes, and most importantly, your return on investment.
Below your stat summary, you’ll notice the Full Table Lookup feature, which we discussed in depth in last month’s issue (check out May ’09 online at BluffMagazine. com), but as a quick reminder, simply select any hand history from a game your currently playing, copy it, and paste it right into the box. The DB will fi re off stats on every player at the table, giving you all the insight necessary to gain an edge on your opponents.
