Bluff Magazine has a new radio show - that’s
right, a radio show! And like Howdie Duty (actually
that may have been a T.V. show) and War of the Worlds,
it’s not going to change your life - but you will
wind up staring at your radio, drooling in a catatonic
state for an hour twice a week.
The show is called the Bluff Magazine Poker Hour, and
airs on the Sirius Satellite Radio (122) on Sports Byline
USA every Wednesday and Thursday 6pm PT/9pm EST. We’re
told that the show reaches 21 million people across
America, but not wanting to neglect Americans worldwide,
we’re also broadcast on the American Forces Radio
Network, supporting our boys ‘round the globe.
The show’s hosts Nick Gerber from Fox Football
Friday, and poker pro ‘Dirty’ Wally, keep
time and raise the blinds each week with pro player
interviews, celebrity guests and commentary from experts
on the game. The show also features Bluff interviewees,
your favorite Bluff writers and maybe even an editor
or two when the moon is full.
But besides our rag-tag lot, famous faces that have
already graced the show, and subjected themselves to
the whims of Nick and Wally, include actor Ed Asner,
geniuses Lou Krieger and Mike Sexton, legend Doyle Brunson
and superstar Phil Hellmuth. A strange menagerie that
makes the Bluff Magazine Poker Hour the 21st century
answer to the Lone Ranger.
Will it television be next? We’re told that we
have better faces for radio, but you can never be too
sure. Poker seems to be the biggest thing hitting the
airwaves folks, and before long you may get a chance
to see Bluff in living color, with all our charming
personalities dancing around in your living room like
He Haw and Benny Hill all rolled into one.
I’m ready for my close-up Mr.DeVille.
Nick Geber is the host of Fox Sports
World TV’s Fox Football Friday as well as a syndicated
sports radio host. Nick started his broadcast career
with Fox Radio in Los Angeles and can now be heard on
the Sporting News Radio, Sirius Satellite, Sports Byline
Radio and the American Forces Radio Network. Nick is
an avid poker player and regularly loses money in poker
tournaments and games throughout the Los Angeles area.
Dirty Wally with over 159 tournament
money wins and over 65 years of poker experience Dirty
Wally is one of the most intriguing characters in the
game. The subject of numerous magazine articles and
features, Wally brings a unique perspective and insight
to the game.
