As many of you know, the game of poker as we know it is under siege and your personal rights are under attack. Not only is online poker at risk, but across America, home games are being threatened with legal action. This is absurd! Poker is, and always has been, one of America’s favorite pastimes. Poker is also “a game of skill” — a very important fact that Capitol Hill has chosen to ignore.
The Poker Players Alliance is a nonprofit membership organization comprised of poker players and enthusiasts from around the United States who have joined together to speak with one voice to promote the game, ensure its integrity, and, most importantly, to protect poker players’ rights.
The time for passively standing on the sidelines and allowing your personal rights to be infringed upon is over. This is a very crucial time for the game of poker and your action is required immediately. You have a voice in the PPA, but you have to use it. Lawmakers in Washington D.C. listen to numbers and you need to be counted.
Anyone reading this has a vested interest in saving the game, therefore we strongly encourage you to do your part. Join the PPA and have your voice heard on Capitol Hill. You can join for free or show your support for as little as $20 or as much as $1000. Whatever level you choose, going to www.PokerPlayersAlliance.org and having your voice counted is what is important. The funds raised will be used to support and increase lobbying efforts already in development, and raise awareness in the poker community and across America. This is a small amount to save America’s favorite pastime, and for some your own personal livelihood. The PPA can’t do this alone.
It’s bad enough that a small group of politicians sneaked through a bill in the middle of the night that greatly and negatively affects the game of poker. They did so without allowing debate or objection from the community and the public. You should be outraged. This must stop and only you can affect change!
The PPA represents your rights, but they can’t do it without your support. The goal is to secure at least one million members as soon as possible. This is a number that legislators cannot ignore. With a strong and assertive membership, the PPA can lobby to have Poker recognized as “a game of skill,” and secure an online exemption that has already been given to lotteries, horse racing and fantasy sports. We demand that Congress address this grievous oversight now!
Please don’t sit idly by while your rights are taken away. To have your voice heard and save the game of Poker, go to www.PokerPlayersAlliance.org and join the PPA today. Numbers don’t lie!
