Get your head out of the clouds and log-on to Bluff’s
Fantasy Poker Challenge to win top prizes and a seat
at the WSOP. Bluff’s Fantasy Poker Challenge just
gets better. Not only have we spruced up the site’s
image with a funky green and gold makeover, there’s
a whole new range of prizes on offer too, including
the best prize anyone could ever hope to receive: a
seat at the WSOP.
For the uninitiated few, the Fantasy Poker Challenge
is the original and the best fantasy poker league in
the world. Simply log-on to www.fantasypokerchallenge.com,
choose four of your favorite poker players, who will
then earn you points, depending on the amount of prize
money they win at a designated tournament. The player
whose fantasy team has accumulated the highest number
of points at the end of the tourney is the winner. After
the first day of the tournament you can buy and sell
players, like the stock exchange, which imbues the whole
thing with the same mixture of strategy and luck as
the great game of poker itself.
Bluff caught up with Jewel Lynn, a respiratory therapist
and poker-nut from the Detroit area, who has won herself
a beautiful Monarch 8-Seat Texas Hold’em table,
compliments of . She displayed almost clairvoyant prescience
for her choices at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic
II. How did you do it Jewel?
“I made my picks with a mixed strategy. I didn’t
try to pick the ‘winner’. Instead, I opted
for a balanced team of ‘placers’. I looked
at the percentages already picked - I didn’t want
a high number or a low number - I went for the mid-range
names that were familiar to me. I also made sure to
pick at least one woman, Jennifer Harman.”
There are clearly no flies on Jewel, and she’s
now chip leader, which means she could be on her way
to the World Series. The top 1000-point earners between
December 17 (Five Diamond World Poker Classic II) and
April 24 (WPT Championship at the Bellagio) will compete
in an invitation-only online freeroll tournament, which
could earn them a seat at the 2005 WSOP.
“Playing at the World Series would be a dream
come true,” she says. “This was my first
try at any fantasy team league. I guess I had a bit
of beginner’s luck. We’ll have to see how
I do the next tournament.”
